Electric vehicles have existed for more than 100 years – mainly driven by lead acid batteries. Today, the Li-Ion battery dominates the automotive engineering mind. Light weight, safe and with very high energy density – they offer obvious advantages to the vehicle engineer. The fast growing public and private infrastructure to charge the electric vehicle further encourages the adoption of green vehicles.
High energy density, low self-discharge and fast recharge characteristics of Li-ion battery packs make them a clear choice as the stored energy power source for electric vehicles, hybrid or plug in hybrid electric vehicles.
Each vehicle battery is engineered individually. HBL’s battery engineering experience ensures the right choice.
Battery performance requirements depend on the vehicle application. Typically an EV battery consists of individual Li-Ion cells that are connected in series and multiple parallel modules in order to achieve the required power and energy. Engineering lighter, more powerful batteries with higher energy density Li-ion batteries offers fundamental advantages. However, the real complexity of optimal use of the battery is in the system integration of high-voltage components, - especially matching the battery with the drivetrain and charging system.
HBL designs and builds the three main components of an electric vehicle – the drive motor, motor controller and the battery modules. This ensures seamless integration by the people that control the technology. Backed with its strong domain experience of research, design and development of numerous battery technologies for mission critical applications, HBL provides effective, affordable vehicle electrification solutions using Li-ion batteries designed at the module level and at the vehicle level.
Hybrid or full EV? HBL can engineer and manufacture a solution for your vehicle.
